Aloe (Aloaceae / Asphodelaceae)

Aloes occur naturally in most parts of Africa and Madagascar, extending their range into parts of the Arabian Peninsula. Only a few of the more than 130 South African (or the more than 600 species and varieties world-wide) are currently grown in gardens and collections in the country.
