Haworthia

Haworthia is a genus with more than 60 species with numerous varieties and subspecies depending on the taxonomist doing the classification. On this website we follow the basic taxonomy of Haworthia Revisited by Bruce Bayer, but with numerous new findings and insights by other authors such as Breuer, Hayashi and others added to this. The species in the genus are attractive leaf succulents making them excellent container plants. Their ability to grow under lower light conditions makes them well suited for cultivation around the world. The genus is divided in three subgenera, Hexangularis, Haworthia and Robustipeduncularis and is genus is indigenous to South Africa, Namibia and Swaziland.
