| Postage & Packaging Prices are given and in US Dollars and excludes postage, certificates and permits. In the case of orders from abroad postage and cost of Phyto-sanitary certificates as well as Nature Conservation permits where applicable will be added. Plants are packed securely and sent by registered air-mail or by air freight. For smaller orders air-mail works best, delivery time varies from 1 to 2 weeks. Postage will depend on the size of the order, but will be in the vicinity of 25% of the price of the order. For larger orders ($500 and more) air freight is advisable, delivery is within two working days, but the customer will require a clearing agent at the airport of arrival. Freight cost will be in the vicinity of $150. We normally only accept orders for $50 or more, at the customers request we will accept smaller orders, but this might result in the fact that postage and permit cost will become high in relation to the cost of the plants. Plants are normally sent to countries in the Northern Hemisphere during the period April to October. On request and at the risk of the customer plants may also be sent during the northern winter. Our rule of thumb, based on past experience is that it is best to send plants at the end of their growing season, which leads to a very short dormancy followed by the growing season in the North. We appreciate your comments in this regard. Customers from the tropics can give us an indication of best delivery time. Export Regulations Phyto-sanitary Regulations All plants are well established and free of pests and diseases. Phyto-sanitary certificates are required for almost all foreign countries. In the case of the United Kingdom, the European Union, Japan and a few other countries we obtain open phyto-sanitary certificates which are acceptable to authorities in the regions mentioned. In most other countries import permits must be obtained from the Department of Agriculture or similar department. Please check your country's regulations. The cost of phyto-sanitary certificate is $22.00 per order. Customers in the USA must note that they need import permits from their Department of Agriculture as well as so-called green-and-yellow labels for the orders to be sent to one of the inspection stations in the country, this has led to serious delays in some cases, we will only accept orders from the US at the risk of the customer. Nature Conservation and Cites-Regulations We support and abide by rules laid down by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). Cites permits are obtained for all orders which include succulent plants on the schedule1 and 2 lists of Cites. For our purposes the genera involved are Pachypodium, Aloe, Euphorbia and Ceropegia. Please make sure that you know what your country's requirements are in this regard. Cites applications take a while to obtain and orders which include Cites listed plants might be delayed for a few weeks. For orders including these Cites plants a quote will be given. Additional costs involved works out at $50 for every four Cites species ordered. |
