This is a small but variable genus with only a few species known from both the Eastern and Western Cape Provinces. The plants are stemmed similarly to some of those found in Haworthiopsis
, but are easily distinguished from these by their flowers and much harder plants with sharply tipped leaves. Even though the species of Astroloba
are included with Tulista
